Pine mouth: This is why people should watch out for Trader Joe's discount "natural foods" line, their pine nuts (made in China with who knows what chemicals) temporarily changed some people's sense of taste, making everything taste metallic. And you thought Chinese products only contained lead and melamine.
Vegan police: This might be of interest to Minneapolitans, a former local co-oper (Disclosure: I know him pretty well) currently in Portland kicked a cop out of the cooperatively-run Red and Black cooperatively-run cafe. It stirred the inevitable shit-storm on the Portland Mercury's website. The worker thought the police presence might intimidate activists and homeless regulars (there have been some high-profile police brutality incidents lately in Portland). Commenters do not agree, to put it lightly. They're calling for a boycott. My guess, remembering the Hard Times Cafe's problems with local authorities, is it might not turn out well for the business.
Mayoral moonings: The Green Party in Colombia is threatening to defeat the ruling party by running the eccentric former Bogota mayor, Antanas Mockus, who gained countrywide fame by mooning an auditorium full of pissed off students in 1993.
WCCO punks: Pat Miles' 1983 report on Minneapolis punk. Who will do a report on this "hip-hop" thing for us?
